Goodlin Scholarship Auditions
Background on the H. B. Goodlin Foundation

The H. B. Goodlin Foundation was started at the bequest of Helen Goodlin, a resident of Frederika Manor retirement home in Chula Vista who contacted the MTACSD and asked if we could form a foundation to provide scholarships for young musicians from San Diego County. The Foundation was set up in her name and is operated by the San Diego Chapter of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTACSD) to award prizes to the winners of the annual
scholarship auditions.

The fund has been fortunate to attract annual contributions from other charitable foundations. The William E. Schmidt Foundation supports the Chet and June Schmidt Award, a keyboard prize of $3200.00 to a first prize pianist or organist. The Apollo award, funded by an anonymous donor, supports the first prize winner of the senior instrumental division. The vocal prize was supported for one year by another donor, but the MTACSD is eager to find donors for the vocal division, as well and the Junior keyboard and instrumental awards.

Your support will allow San Diego MTAC to expand the outreach of scholarship programs available to the dedicated and talented young musicians of San Diego County. Please consider joining the parents, teachers, student alumni, and businesses who contribute to the H.B. Goodlin Foundation.

Your contribution can be sent directly to:
The San Diego Foundation
2508 Historic Decatur Road
Suite 200
Sa Diego, CA 92106

Please make checks payable to The San Diego Foundation, and indicate on the check memo that your gift is specifically for the H.B. Goodlin Roundation, MTAC-SD. The S.D. Foundation will send a letter of receipt for your tax purposes, and they will notify us of your donation.

We thank you for your consideration,
The Teachers of MTAC, San Diego Branch
