* The Music Teachers’ Association of California was founded in 1897. It is a statewide organization of professional music teachers with many local branches.

* Every active teaching member has to meet stringent qualifications to be eligible for membership, including a degree in music or its equivalent from an accredited institution and demonstrated teaching experience.

* MTAC provides many competitive and non-competitive events each year for students at all levels, encompassing all styles of music.
