The MTAC San Diego Branch is very pleased to announce that we are joining with the San Diego Youth Symphony
in order to offer a very special award to the First-place winner in Division III (Piano 15-18 years old) of the MTAC San Diego Branch Concerto Competition. This special award will be offered every other year, and SDYS is generously providing the following benefits to this winner:

•Performance of the winning concerto movement with either the SDYS Symphony or Philharmonia Orchestra, depending on the orchestration of the winning piece, on the Spring Ovation Concert, which will be held on June 10, 2012, in Copley Hall.
•The Graves-Bennett Piano Scholarship Award in the amount of $1000, sponsored by the San Diego
Youth Symphony, to be used specifically to further the winner's musical training.
•TEN complimentary tickets to the Ovation Concert
•A recommendation to perform in a La Jolla Music Society or La Jolla Summerfest Chamber Music
-sponsored master class
•Tuition waiver for participation in a SDYS Core Chamber Music Ensemble

Lee Galloway MTAC From Your Branch President

San Diego Branch President Miriam Cole has led our branch well with a discerning vision. However, her husband is moving to Rhode Island to accept a great position and, unfortunately for us, Miriam has decided to go with her husband (imagine that!). I am honored to take over the excellent team that has been put together as this year's Branch Board.

This coming year is a thrilling one, as we look forward to the celebration of our 100th Anniversary as a Branch! In addition to planning a local celebration (stay tuned!), we are working on a fun and exciting celebration at the 2012 MTAC Convention which will occur in San Diego, June 29 to July 3, 2012.

Start your planning now to take advantage of the great presenters and artists who will be coming to teach and inspire you. Let us set a convention record for branch attendance as we celebrate the strength, uniqueness and longevity of our great branch!
