| The year 2012 marked
the 100th anniversary of the San Diego County Branch of the Music
Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC). As one of sixty-seven
branches throughout California, the San Diego County Branch (MTACSD)
offers competitive and non-competitive programs—at both the local
and the State levels--that encourage community involvement, musical
growth, skill development, and student recognition. Each year, more
than 1500 students of MTACSD teachers participate in the events
sponsored by the Branch.
The Music Teachers' Association of California is a
professional organization of approximately 4,700 members. Since
1897, MTAC has dedicated its efforts towards the pursuit of excellence
in music education. The mission of the MTAC is the establishment
of excellence in the music teaching profession through high standards
for membership, strong ethical values, and the continuation of musical
education by its members to cultivate personal, professional, and
artistic excellence.
Every year, MTACSD teachers participate in the annual
State MTAC Convention. Additionally, students from various MTACSD
teaching studios are selected to perform at the five-day event,
in recitals and master classes that highlight outstanding students.
